Some advice

I have been reading kijiji ads that are saying looking for wedding photographer for under $500.00. I just wanted to point out some things that you should know when you do that. Personally, with the recession, I believe there are many people that can’t afford a photographer for more. This is ok, I understand you will not be using my services. But you should be aware that when you are hiring someone for under $500.00 you are taking a risk. At Angel Eyes Photography we bring a minimum: 3 canon eos cameras, 4 canon “L” series lens, 2 580 ex ii flashes, ring flash with portable battery, pocket wizards, 6 memory cards over 100 gb memory, and tons of batteries. When you hire someone that’s charging under $500.00 there’s a good chance they don’t have a back up plan and you shouldn’t be surprised when it happens.

The Bentley Generals

It was good to see Pete Vandermeer playing for the Generals. One thing was for certain while I shot the game. I need some practice shooting more games. Can’t wait for the next opprotunity to photograph the Generals.

It’s a Wedding

It’s a Wedding

So this was the event that we’ve been waiting for, It’s a Wedding. I decided to try an idea of mine of a high quality photobooth. I used a backdrop from Lemon Drops, a ringflash from Alien Bees, some trim painted with matte paint, 3M strips, and Canon cameras. I kept the camera in the same position for all the photos and tethered to my laptop. I had lightroom upload pictures from a folder that canon eos utility was downloading from the camera. I had lightroom automatically install a preset that I custom made for this event. There was no post editing after the initial preset was put on the image. Oh, and I had to rig up L bracket from the hardware store to my camera so it would shoot portrait instead of landscape. That way it would get the kids as well as the adults.

I just want to send out a huge thank you to Gay Derk of Derks Formals & Menswear and Amanda Nickerson of New Beginning Wedding & Formal Wear for getting me this tux. It rocked. I used it to colour calibrate my pictures. How awesome is that.

To everyone from It’s a Wedding I had fun taking photos. Thank you.

Updating website

So recently we were told that our website did not give them the impression we were wedding photographers. I was grateful for the comments and have decided to focus on updating our webpage to focus on wedding photography. This will be to something as simple as changing images to wedding pictures to topics on this blog about weddings. I want to be more involved with my wife with Angel Eyes Photography and to do that we need more weddings.

As always I am excited about our future in the industry and can’t wait to show you our future shoots.
